Our rural village is located at 456 meters above sea level. Lindar boasts with ancient houses that have distinctive chimneys and porches (called "baladur").
During the Middle Ages, like most Istrian settlements, Lindar was a fortified castle. From that period one entry gate is preserved. Remnants of the walls can be found around parish church of Saint Mohor and Fortunatus that was built in 1606. Church belfry from 1906 is 30 meters high.
In Saint Sebastian`s church there can be found latin and glagolitic inscriptions from 1559. Near the old caste entry you can find Saint Catherine`s church, well-known for its frescoes of "live Cross" from 1409.
Today Lindar has about half the population that had 50 years ago, around 400 inhabitants. Most of them work in Pazin or other parts of Istria. Despite the modern way of life, Lindar kept his charms, welcoming environment and rural atmosphere; fruit trees are still trimmed, fields are still cultivated.
If you come to Lindar in May you can take part in "Fešta prez štrumienti" (Festival without instruments) but with music played on various household and agricultural items (like comb, bottle, pot, rake, handsaw, etc.). During mid-July various events take place on Saint Mohor`s Day (village fair, concert).
